Picnic at Hanging Rock!
Get to the ‘Rock’ for the best Harvest Picnic yet! This year’s iconic Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock will be held on Sunday February 26th. It combines fine food and wine, cooking demonstrations, live music and children’s entertainment in a stunning location.
Give your tastebuds a work-out and have a fun-filled day out with family and friends trying local Victorian produce from more than 100 small food and wine producers.
As well as a delectable selection of gourmet treats to try and buy, the event also features cooking demonstrations by some of Australia’s best chefs, including Annie Smithers from her renowned Kyneton bistro and Travis McAuley from the Hellenic Republic in East Brunswick.
There will be live music on stage all day, including The Bamboos, a ten-piece funk band, along with the swingin' B# Big Band. Children will love the array of free activities, including an animal farm, face painting and lamington making. Kids are also invited to enter the Cupcake Decorating Competition for the chance to win some great prizes.
While sipping, supping and enjoying the music beneath the gum trees is sublime, climbing the rock adds a fun (and somewhat spooky) element. Anyone of average fitness, and kids, will have no trouble making the trek, so bring your runners. The views are stunning!
Admission covers entry to The Age Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock, access to Hanging Rock Reserve and the Neff Cooking Demonstration Marquee, live music on stage, children’s activities, car parking, a copy of The Sunday Age and a visitor's program.
